The Two Ways of Doing Every Door Direct Mail

THE TWO WAYS OF DOING EVERY DOOR DIRECT MAIL

Every Door Direct Mail is one of the post office’s solutions to direct mail. You can reach potential customers without knowing their names or street addresses. All you have to do if you want to do-it-yourself is identify a delivery route you want to reach, prepare your mail piece, determine your area you want to reach, and drop off your mail piece to the post office with the proper paper work. The post office will deliver your EDDM to every address in your designated area.

EVERY DOOR DIRECT MAIL RETAIL

There are certain requirements for EDDM retail. They are as follows:

• Mail pieces are limited to standard mail flats only. See Postcards, Letters, Flats, What’s the Difference?, for flat sizing.

• Each mail piece must be at least 0.007” thick and cannot exceed 3.3 ounces

• Each mail piece must display the Every Door Direct Mail – Retail indicia

• Can mail up to 5000 mail pieces per day per zip code unless a single route contains over 5000 delivery points

• Must contain at least 200 mail pieces unless the route in the zip code does not total 200 delivery points

• Retail Users cannot add part of a route to an order; when a route is added, it is the entire
route

• Retail Users can only create EDDM orders within the United States and its territories
You can use Every Door Direct Mail Retail and process all the postal paperwork yourself, or allow a reliable mail house like Direct Mail Impressions to do it for you using Every Door Direct Mail – Business Mail Entry Unit. A mail house will supply the permit, help you with the delivery routes, make sure all the requirements are met, and deliver your mail piece to the post office with the proper paperwork so you don’t have to, for only 0.04 per piece. In addition to providing these services, a mail house like Direct Mail Impressions can also offer you design expertise and printing options.
